Apulia / Dominion of Rome

Dominion of Rome
Te Romans considered Apulia a highly strategic region, both for the production of wheat and oil and for its commercial and military importance (the presence of the ports of Brindisi and Taranto, sea ports to Greece and the East was important).
They finally conquered it in 260 BC. and brought you two important roads that connected it to Rome:

♦ the Via Appia (completed in 190 BC) started from Rome and reached Brindisi via Capua, Benevento, Venosa, Gravina, Taranto;
♦ the Via Traiana (completed in 113 AD) was a variant closer to the coast and more easily traveled from Benevento to Brindisi.
