Antonio Moschetta AIRC Researcher

Ordinary of Internal Medicine
at the Aldo Moro University of Bari

Born in 1973, he has dedicated his entire life to medicine. Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bari, he received a Ph.D. (International Research Doctorate) at the University Medical Center of Utrecht (Holland) and since 2002 he has been a Specialist in Internal Medicine.

Biographical notes

Research and scientific dissemination are two pillars of his professional life. He worked as a researcher with Nobel prize Alfred Gilman in the Department of Pharmacology of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and continued his activity in David Mangelsdorf’s laboratory at the University of Texas (Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas in the USA) until he held the roles of Head of the Lipid and Tumor Metabolism Laboratory and Head of the Translational Pharmacology Department of the Mario Negri Sud Consortium in Santa Maria Imbaro (Chieti).

Since May 2013 he has been Scientific Director of the IRCCS Cancer InstituteG. Paolo II”of Bari.
Since October 2016 he has been Full Professor of Internal Medicine and Director of the Postgraduate School of Internal Medicine at the “Aldo MoroUniversity of Bari.
Since February 2018 he has been Director of the Inter-company Department of Oncology in the Bari area and Coordinator of the Apulian Oncology Network for the metropolitan area of Bari.
He is he Owner of the AIRC Research Project on tumor metabolism and gene regulation.

Author of numerous publications, he has received international awards such as the Richard Weitzman Award in Chicago, the Rising Star in hepatology in Vienna, the David Williams Award in Vail (Colorado) and the European Lipid Award in Gothenburg.
